Sound familiar?
You're not being difficult. You're being refused.
A refused claim isn't just money. It's the house you can't repair, the car you can't replace, the trip you still paid for. And the letter is written to make you give up.
Same steps. Very different bill.

You send a legal-grade letter, in your name
Every argument is cited and linked to the law, rule or Ombudsman decision behind it, plus a step-by-step plan if your insurer still won't move.
Still refused? The same letter is written to support a free Financial Ombudsman complaint.
What “legal-grade” means
The sources a specialist lawyer would use. Cited, every time.
No templates, no guesswork. Every argument is matched to your refusal and backed by a rule your insurer has to answer to. In plain English, so you understand it too.

"After a car crash that wasn't my fault, the insurer tried to write off my car for far less than it was worth. You guided me through exactly what I had to do and say - everything was clear and easy to understand, and I got the full amount I was owed."

"When my husband's physiotherapy practice was forced to close temporarily due to a virus, our insurer said it wasn't on their list of diseases and wouldn't pay anything towards our loss of earnings. The arguments you came up with convinced them to pay up."

"After a major house fire destroyed our contents, our insurer said we were under-insured - and that they'd only pay a fraction of our claim. Your know-how helped us overcome their excuse and get everything we were asking for."

"After being injured in action, my military insurer tried to argue that my injuries weren't permanent - so they'd pay me only a small percentage of the policy limit. Steve identified several arguments to challenge their refusal, and they ended up paying me virtually the full policy limit."

We don’t help insurers, only policyholders having trouble with refused claims, so we’re never conflicted. Our expert knowledge works for you now.
Legal grade.
We’re not a law firm and we don’t give legal advice. Instead we use the latest tech and artificial intelligence to mine the know-how we have created, to give you access to previously unavailable expertise.
Cost effective.
Using the latest tech allows us to deliver our service without hiring expensive people to help you. We pass this saving directly on to you, so you get access to high-quality expertise at an affordable price.
Money-back guarantee.
If you’re not completely happy with our product, we’ll give you a full refund within 14 days, no questions asked.
No. smarterclaims publishes legal information and writes letters you can send yourself - like a digital version of a published legal guide. We're not a law firm and we don't give advice - but we think that giving you access to previously unavailable expertise at a very affordable price, plus our money-back guarantee, more than offsets these limitations.
If your case needs professional representation, we'll tell you, and we can introduce you to the right people if you ask us to.
Do I pay before I see the letter?
You see a preview of the analysis and arguments before you pay. The letter is £49.99, and it comes with an explanation of where you stand and your step-by-step plan.
Is there a money-back guarantee?
Yes - a no-questions-asked money-back guarantee. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your Claims Pack, just tell us within 14 days and we'll refund you in full. No forms, no hoops to jump through. You risk nothing by trying.
What if the insurer ignores my letter?
You can usually escalate your case to the Financial Ombudsman Service. Their service is free. It's designed for consumers, so it's easy to use. It handles disputes up to £455,000 and there are usually no hearings or meetings to attend.
Our letters are written in a way that allows you to use them to make a complaint to the Ombudsman if you need to, by explaining your key arguments professionally and persuasively.
What if my case is too big for you?
Some cases - usually those over £100,000 or where the facts are hard-contested - might require the services of a solicitor. If your case looks like one of these, we'll tell you upfront and we can introduce you to someone suitable if you ask us to. Because we completely understand the insurance industry we know the best people to go to.
Is my data private?
Your refusal letter and policy documents are held in encrypted storage for a maximum of 24 hours - a short safety buffer in case your email needs re-sending - then they are permanently and automatically deleted.
We don't sell your data. We don't share it with insurers or anyone else unless you ask us to. We don't use it to train external models.
Is Steve Smart actually involved?
Yes, but not in your individual case. Steve built the underlying logic and reviews the library that the AI applies. He doesn't review individual cases - the system is designed to do that work - but his forty years are what the tool runs on. This is what allows us to provide high-quality know-how at a fraction of the cost of hiring a traditional law firm.
What types of insurance do you cover?
We handle most common UK consumer insurance: home, motor, travel, health, and pet insurance. If your policy type isn't supported, we'll tell you upfront - before you pay.
How long does it take?
Describe what your case or concern is about and we'll tell you immediately how to handle it, free of charge. Then you can upload your documents, wait 5-7 minutes for the analysis, answer a couple more questions, review the analysis and download your letter. Most people are done in under 10 minutes.
